Former President Donald Trump is gearing up for a return to Pennsylvania with a rally set for June 22 on Temple University’s campus in Philadelphia. This marks Trump’s fourth visit to the state in 2024, and his second stop in Philadelphia this year.
The campaign’s announcement of the rally underscores Trump’s dedication to the people of Pennsylvania, vowing to tackle financial hardships faced by families and restore law and order in the state.
Trump’s previous engagements in Pennsylvania this year include speaking at a National Rifle Association event in Harrisburg, introducing a new line of Trump-branded sneakers at SneakerCon in Philadelphia, and holding a rally in the Lehigh Valley back in April. He also rallied in nearby Wildwood, New Jersey, drawing attendees from Pennsylvania.
In contrast, President Joe Biden has been active in Pennsylvania with eight appearances so far this year, particularly focusing on the southeast region, a crucial Democratic stronghold.
Trump’s rally comes amidst his recent conviction on 34 felony counts in a New York City trial. His sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
In response to Trump’s rally, Kellan White, a senior advisor for the Pennsylvania Democratic Coordinated Campaign, criticized Trump’s record, highlighting his felony conviction and describing him as a failed president.
White emphasized Biden’s commitment to advocating for Pennsylvanians and delivering concrete outcomes like lowering healthcare expenses and generating employment opportunities.
Both campaigns are actively involved in Pennsylvania, with Biden’s team establishing 24 coordinated offices statewide, while the Trump campaign initiated its “Trump Force 47” program and opened offices targeting Latino American voters.
Recent polling indicates a close race between Biden and Trump in Pennsylvania, with a Marist poll showing Trump leading Biden by a narrow margin of 2 points. In the 2020 election, Biden narrowly surpassed Trump in Pennsylvania by over 80,000 votes.
