Akron Police suspect a drive-by shooter in a mass shooting incident that shook the community. Mayor Shammas Malik and Police Chief Brian Harding addressed the media about the tragic event, which unfolded during an outdoor party on Kelly and 8th avenues. The horrifying incident left 24 individuals injured, with one tragic fatality, a 27-year-old man.

Authorities are pleading with the public to step forward with any information they may have regarding the shooting. While investigators are pursuing initial leads, no suspects have been pinpointed yet.

Both Summit County Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals have announced rewards for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Additionally, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is offering its own reward.

Chief Harding described the scene as chaotic, as the shooting erupted amidst a large gathering of approximately 200 people. Evidence suggests it was a drive-by shooting, with detectives recovering 35 shell casings and two firearms scattered around the area.

There are heightened concerns about potential retaliation, prompting authorities to take proactive measures to curb any further violence.
